Tim's 12...

I averaged 9:36, according to the Forerunner. I was battling a blister on my left foot for the last 4 miles or so, and it was occupying most of my attention.

Much easier with a partner, and it would of course be easier if I were doing it at a slower pace.

The 13 will be better next weekend.

I am determined to get some cross-training done this week.

12 Miles on Muggy Morning

Time: 1:50:56

Well, the run was a bit on the steamy side this morning. I could have definitely used some rain, encouragement from a partner and more liquid intake. At any rate, it's over now and I feel very old and jointless.

Can you take the Heat?

Well, my tempo run this morning has not yet taken place. Now that there's a heat index of 107 in Chattanooga, I'd be surprised if that run takes place today, unless of course the temperature drops significantly before 8 pm. Training is not always an easy option to choose when you have the opportunity to spend time with your son when he wakes up...

Thursday tempo...

GOAL: 5 miles @ 8:30-8:35
ACTUAL: 5 miles @ 8:32

Slacking so far...

Although I've done all my scheduled runs so far, I must admit I haven't done any cross-training or lifted any weights since the program started. Gotta do it, or I won't make the four-hour mark, I bet.

Tuesday speedwork...

GOAL: 4 x 3/4 mi. @ 5:33-5:39
ACTUAL: 4 x 3/4 mi. @
1) 5:35
2) 5:35
3) 5:32
4) 5:34

Not bad.

Hey, stupid!

In looking at the program schedule this morning, I see for the first time that the speedwork for last week was 8 x 400. I, for some reason, thought it was 6 x 400. I didn't check my little sheet of paper, and so I botched the first day.

If I run 4:00:01, I have no one to blame but myself.

An overall success, but consistency still needed...

We began our 10 yesterday morning in the rain. I wouldn't call it driving or even pouring rain, but it was rain. And it lasted the whole time.

We got through the first half in a 9:53 pace, approximately. It felt like we were going much faster to me.

So we smoked the second half, while each taking the lead and pushing the pace each mile.

We averaged 9:23 for the entirety, which means we were sub-9:00 in the second half. Probably 8:53 pace (a whole minute faster).

So...
GOAL: 10 miles @ 9:15-9:30
ACTUAL: 10 miles @ 9:23
Success!!!

Feeling good this morning, but I need to do some serious stretching. I'm as tight as J's Fruit of the Looms.
